Building 101: How to Build a Family Friendly Home
Building a family friendly home is easy to do when you choose the right materials and finishes.
With 4 kids and a dog, it was important to us that our house would stand up to the messes they create.
•Quartz countertops were high on that list. I haven’t had a mess I couldn’t get out of these countertops yet. Paint, sharpie, sauce, you name it we have spilt it, and our countertop still look brand new.
•Choosing streamlined plumbing fixtures is key for high touch areas such as the kitchen sink and kids bathrooms. The more simple the finish the better. Think of sticky hands coming for your faucet, how long will it take you to clean up the mess. When it comes to kids bathrooms, I love a one handle faucet design because we all know kids and toothpaste don’t mix well.
•Skirted toilets are my favorite splurge! I would not move into another house without them. They are so easy to clean and if you have boys in your house you know the messes they can make. Enough said!
