NY2Nash Journey
In January of 2020 our family made the decision to relocate to Nashville for my husband’s job. A family of 6, born and raised in NY, we knew this was going to be an adventure. I had always dreamed of building a house from the ground up and this was my opportunity to make that happen. My husband and I flew to Nashville, found the perfect lot and signed on the dotted line. It’s actually much more complicated than that, but we found a space to call home.
Just as we returned to NY with the exciting news, the world shut down. We were now homeschooling 4 kiddos and both of us were working from home on Zoom. We prepped our house as we waited for the NY real estate market to open up again. We provided virtual tours and a few in person showings between Zoom calls. We managed sell our house and pack up our life in a few short months. We moved into a small rental in an adjacent community from the build so we can keep the kids in the same schools and be closely involved with the build process.
We arrived in Nolensville the day before school started virtually for the kids. That week I was already in meetings with our builder and designer picking everything from tile to lighting and everything in between. Since I was already obsessed with Pinterest and Instagram accounts who were documenting their home building journey, I decided “I could do that,” and NY2Nash was born.
During the build process I learned so many things about designing a house and really making it functional for your life. Having 4 kids and a dog influenced many of our design decisions. I love sharing our building and designing process here to help others who are working on their own homes. Making a house into a cozy home using quality timeless pieces with affordable family friendly décor is what NY2Nash is all about.
